We are the regimental charity dedicated to supporting and caring for our people, so they can serve our country knowing their families and veteran community are looked after.
The Hoplite Fund assists serving and former personnel of the Regiment, and their dependents.
Its aim is to provide a proactive approach to welfare and support, ensuring the Regiment’s personnel have wrap around care readily available, preventing crisis where possible and being able to react quickly when immediate assistance is needed. This includes maintaining the operational effectiveness of military and civilian serving personnel and their dependents, as well as supporting veterans who have completed their service. Those entitled to support are formally defined as the ‘beneficiaries’ of the Hoplite Fund.
The Hoplite Fund is focused on providing support, facilities, and activities to enhance the health, wellbeing and welfare needs of our people, ensuring they remain effective in meeting one of the most challenging set of missions and tasks across defence.

The Hoplite Fund was registered as a Charity on 13 October 2006 under Charity Number: 1116376. It is governed by and reports to the Charity Commission (England and Wales).
Who runs the Hoplite Fund?
The Hoplite Fund is overseen by a Board of Trustees. They are responsible for the governance and management of the Charity, and they decide on its strategy, policy, and allocation of support. They are assisted by a small team of staff.
How the Hoplite Fund assists its beneficiaries
The Fund seeks to provide the necessary support, facilities, and activities to enhance the health, wellbeing and welfare needs of our serving members, their families, and veterans. Examples of this being the provision of respite accommodation, support to children’s activities, funding of garrison activities, contributions to collective cohesion events, support to mental health care and one-off grants to individuals in times of need.
How do I ask for help from the Hoplite Fund?
Personnel who wish to request support for either themselves, or on behalf of another, may do so by visiting the ‘Get Support’ tab and then completing the online Support Referral form. If you’re completing the form on behalf of someone else, you will need to confirm, on the application, that the person who needs the help has given you permission to complete the form on their behalf.
Does the Hoplite work alone?
The Hoplite Fund maintains good relationships with other Group, Service and Military charities. When considering a request for support, coordination will be conducted with other charities where it is applicable and right to do so, based on the nature of the request and in accordance with the wishes of the beneficiary.
Is there anything the Hoplite does not provide advice on?
The Hoplite Fund can’t give advice about legal issues, financial planning (such as pension plans and investment advice), employment, immigration law or tax issues. We cannot give advice on medical issues (treatment, medicine etc) as we are not trained doctors or counsellors, however, we can signpost you to the right people who will be able to give advice in these areas.
How does the Hoplite raise money?
The Hoplite raises funds in various ways, via direct donations, sponsorship of fundraising events, wills, legacies and formal hosted events. If you wish to raise money on behalf of the Hoplite or discuss any ideas, please get in touch by using the “Contact Us” tab.
