Help and support for service leavers and their families:
Defence Transition Services (DTS) is run by Veterans UK. It exists to provide information and support for those service leavers and their families who are most likely to face challenges as they leave the armed forces and adjust to civilian life.
The Career Transition Partnership (CTP) is the official resettlement service for the Armed Forces. It supports service leavers who are transitioning from their military career into civilian employment, further education or retirement.
The CTP is a partnership between the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Reed in Partnership, and the Forces Employment Charity, helping service leavers approach their resettlement with confidence, making sure that their destination after their service is appropriate to their skills, knowledge, experience and aspirations. They offer services like career guidance, workshops, and job-finding support to all service leavers.
The service is delivered at 10 regional resettlement centres in the UK, along with the flagship resettlement training centre in Aldershot, which contains purpose-built resettlement facilities.
In most cases, support is provided from 2 years before discharge until 2 years after discharge.
In addition to career guidance, workshops and employment support, the CTP also provides access to financial advice through briefings on the Financial Aspects of Resettlement (FAR).
The CTP support includes a range of expert personal advice and guidance, training courses, digital tools, resettlement events and access to specially-sourced job vacancies.
The CTP provides comprehensive, personalised support to help service leavers identify and plan for their next career steps based on their skills and experience.
Offers a range of workshops, such as the Career Transition Workshop (CTW) and more specific ones on CV development, interview techniques, and self-employment.
Connects service leavers with employers through events, job fairs, and other recruitment opportunities, leveraging a network of employers interested in recruiting ex-military personnel.
